Fabregas Hits out at Critics After Winner against Sunderland

Cesc Fabregas has taken a swipe at his critics by saying that people quickly forget what some players can do.

The Spaniard has not been a regular first choice midfielder under Antonio Conte largely because of the shift in the formation. Chelsea have gone from playing 4-3-2-1 to a 3-4-3 system since September. It is the preferred formation for Conte and the shift has truly paid off with the club managing nine straight victories in the league. Their latest victory came as a 1-0 win over Sunderland. Fabregas was making a rare start in place of NemanjaMatic.

Many have felt that Fabregas could have been at least given some role in the first 11 rather than a place on the bench since he is extremely good. He proved his worth by coming up with the only goal in the win over Sunderland.

It was an exquisite finish from the former Barcelona player, who was instrumental in the last league success for the club in the 2014-15 season. He was once again excellent in the match against Sunderland, as he dominated the pace and tempo. The highlight of the evening was his goal, and the midfielder is hoping to be in the first team on a regular basis.

This was the first goal of the season for the 30-year-old."In football today people forget very, very, very quickly who you are, and what you can do.People forget that tonight is just the second time in my life that I have played this system. I am getting used to it, I have lots of players in front of me in space and protection behind me.Hopefully now I can get a run of games in the team.We need to kill games off when we can because we had so many chances,” said Fabregas.
