Fabregas set to be new captain

Earlier on February, John Terry announced that he will be leaving Chelsea during the summer as the English defender is not planning to retire in Stamford Bridge and this has started a stream of rumours involving which player is going to become the new captain of the Premier League and surprisingly enough, there are many fans of Chelsea that want to see Cesc Fabregas becoming the new captain.

Supporters of Chelsea have been voicing their desire to see Cesc Fabregas taking up the captain armband through social media.

Since the arrival of Guus Hiddink, Cesc Fabregas has showed significant improvement and has turned into one of the more influential players of the Premier League club. The Spanish midfielder was the main star during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against West Ham as he scored a penalty kick and a free-kick which was enough for Chelsea to rescue 1 point.

This shows the role that Fabregas is playing in the team as he is one of the figures that is looked upon in relation on taking set-pieces and he is proving to have what it takes to be relied on in important games.
Fabregas has already captained other big clubs as he was the leader of Arsenal some time ago, so becoming the new captain of Chelsea is something that Fabregas already has experience in doing.

Darren Ambrose - a Chelsea fan who also runs the Fruity Reels site about fruit machines - thinks that Cesc Fabregas would be the perfect choice. "I think Cesc has the ability to drive the game forwards, take the match by the scruff of the neck, and get goals. He has already proved at Arsenal and with Spain that he has hte leadership skills necessary to be captain."

Branislav Ivanovic is the vice-captain of Chelsea and the Serbian defender is another one of the players who has a realistic chance of becoming the captain of the squad but the future of Ivanovic is being linked away from Stamford Bridge as he is being rumored on leaving Chelsea and joining As.Roma on a swap deal involving himself and Radja Nainggolan.

The appointment of the new coach will ultimately be decided by Antonio Conte when he does arrive to Stamford Bridge in a few months in the summer but Cesc Fabregas is a realistic and wise option.
